Billy Healan graduated from Winder Barrow High School in 1989 and then attended theUniversity of Georgia, where he graduated in 1993 with a degree in economics. Mr. Healan received his degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1996. Since graduation, Mr. Healan has practiced criminal defense in Winder, Georgia with a large portion of his practice devoted to DUI and traffic law. Mr. Healan also accepts select personal injury cases. Mr. Healan is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Georgia Defenders of Drinking Drivers group. Billy Healan is AV rated by Martindale Hubble, 10 out of 10 rated by AVVO, and has been selected as a Super Lawyer from 2012-2024. Mr. Healan has spoken on a variety of topics related to criminal law and DUI law at numerous legal seminars. Mr. Healan has handled thousands of criminal cases, with approximately 200 jury trials and many more bench trials and motion hearings. Mr. Healan has also handled many appeals in the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court. Two of Mr. Healan's appeals to the Georgia Supreme Court, Cooper v. State and King v. State, resulted in Georgia statutes being held unconstitutional. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Healan raises cattle on his farm in Jackson County. Mr. Healan and his wife have two daughters.
