In May 1978, as one of about 275 financial advisors of Edward Jones, I transferred my Iowa Hawkeye life to Nevada, MO, to provide investments and financial services to individuals and businesses. It has been a fantastic and rewarding journey to partner for decades with clients and their families in helping them reach their financial and life goals. After 47 years, it continues to be a joy and an honor to walk into our office at 129 W Cherry St. in Nevada and work with our clients to help them plan their financial future.Shortly after I moved to Nevada, Edward Jones' managing partner and founder's son, Ted Jones, visited this office and left me with valuable parting words. "Tom, become a part of your community, settle into a home, get married, start a family. You do that, do the work and do what is right for your clients, and you will be a successful member of your community."It is here I met and married my beautiful wife, Cathy. We have two wonderful daughters, Emily Hunt and Claire Hooe, two great sons-in-law and the greatest three grandsons. We stay active in community events, and we reside just south of town. Some volunteer activities and community services in which I served as director and past president include: - Nevada Industrial Development Corp.- NAEDC- Rotary- Osage Prairie YMCA- Citizen of the Year (2002)I achieved my CFP® certification in 1992.I work with my daughter, Claire Hooe, and son-in-law, Kyle Hooe, who are financial advisors, as well as senior branch office administrators, Christy Gray and Brandi Todd. We continue to accept clients who want to work with our team with a combined Edward Jones experience of over 100 years.
