Robert E. Jenkins is a proud alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with high honors after majoring in broadcast journalism and competing in numerous mock trial competitions in preparation for law school. Mr. Jenkins attended the prestigious UCLA School of Law where he earned scholarship honors for his legal writing, served as a teaching assistant for a legal writing class, was selected as the President of the UCLA Moot Court Honors Program, and authored an article on the Exxon Valdez litigation. Mr. Jenkins began his legal career in San Diego, California with Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek where his practice involved complex business and real estate litigation. Thereafter, he returned to Dallas and joined Vial, Hamilton, Koch & Knox where he practiced bank litigation and commercial debt collection. During this time, his civil litigation practice broadened to include business disputes such as claims involving covenants not to compete, causes arising under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA), and claims for fraud, misrepresentation and breach of contract. Mr. Jenkins' non-litigation experience includes negotiating and drafting all types of contracts such as commercial leases, asset purchase agreements, and dissolution agreements. Following his experiences at big downtown law firms, Mr. Jenkins opened his own firm to bring a fresh perspective to his legal practice by eliminating demanding overhead through implementing the latest technologies and rejecting business models that rewarded inefficiency. Mr. Jenkins' puts the focus on the needs of his clients' cases and not on the demands of big firm overhead. In 2010, Super Lawyers magazine named Robert E. Jenkins a "Rising Star," an honor reserved for no more than 2.5 percent of all the lawyers in Texas each year. Well into the second decade of his legal career, Mr. Jenkins has appeared for more than 300 court hearings throughout the state of Texas including the cities of Dallas, Denton, Plano, Rockwall, Fort Worth, Waco, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and many others. Additionally, he has represented numerous clients in mediations and arbitration, served as the lead attorney for many trials, appeared before the Texas Court of Appeals, and filed briefs with the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has expanded his practice to include serving as a court-appointed receiver in debt collection cases and overseeing his firm's high volume pre-legal collections.
