Robert Ungaro is General Counsel to the New York City Police Department Superior Officers Council (NYPD SOC) , and disability counsel to the New York City Police Department Captains Endowment Association (NYPD CEA) , the New York City Police Department Lieutenants Benevolent Association (NYPD LBA) , the New York City Police Department Sergeants Benevolent Association (NYPD SBA) And the New York City Police Department Detectives Endowment Association (NYPD DEA) . He entered private practice following a distinguished career in public service which began at the New York County District Attorneys' Office, culminating at the NYC Department of Investigation. He was appointed, during the Giuliani administration, to head the office of the NYC Fire Department Inspector General during the tenure of Commissioner Howard Safir. He retired in 1996, to form the law firm of Seelig & Ungaro where he practiced law for thirteen years, devoting his attention between complex disability litigation and civil service issues. In January 2010, Mr. Ungaro formed his current law firm, Ungaro & Cifuni. He is a seasoned advocate, having successfully represented clients in well over 10,000 matters worth billions of dollars in recoveries and benefits, many of which concerned NYC police officers and firefighters injured or disabled in the performance of duty.
