As a career Navy veteran with 29 years experience, Rich has moved around the country 20 times with his wife and 5 children. He has been an owner/landlord since 1998 and has immeasurable experience leading people and solving tough problems as Commanding Officer of a guided missile destroyer, USS STERETT (DDG 104) and Naval Station Norfolk, the world's largest Naval Base, where he was in charge of a command that hosted 65,000 people, 59 ships, and 187 aircraft. Rich knows firsthand what it is like to move to a new area and be faced with the challenge of finding a quality place to live. He understands the challenges associated with owning real estate, transferring to a new duty station, and selling or renting the property as a long distance landlord. Rich belongs to the National Association of Realtors and the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. He is a native of Jackson, Tennessee and attended the University of Memphis, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. A 2006 distinguished graduate of the Naval War College in Newport, R.I., he earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security Affairs and Strategic Studies. Additionally, he was a 2013 Federal Executive Fellow at the Brookings Institution where he earned a Certificate in Public Leadership from Washington University in St. Louis and the Brookings Executive Education program. Rich is a career Naval Officer who built a reputation on someone who does things right the first time.
