Pedro started out his accounting career by performing audits for local governments primarily charter schools as well as not-for-profit organizations with Pauly, Rogers and Co., PC, a public accounting firm in Tigard, Oregon. Having grown up receiving assistance from many not-for-profit organizations including college prep assistance through Upward Bound, a federally funded TRIO program. Pedro decided that his passion was in working with not-for-profit organizations so he set out to find a firm that specialized in the not-for-profit industry. Through his search he learned about a firm in the heart of downtown Portland called McDonald Jacobs, PC. It was here where Pedro would become an audit manager and would lead audits including single audits of primarily not-for-profit organizations as well as charter schools. After spending more than 7 years doing audits, Pedro decided that he wanted try his luck providing more hands on accounting help to clients through consulting. He found a good company to do just that in NOW CFO. Pedro would spend nearly a year providing hands on controller and CFO services to a variety of organizations including not-for-profit organizations before deciding that he wanted to start his own business where he could define the values and the mission of the company and do business with full integrity and transparency. As a result he founded People First Consulting LLC, with the aim of providing top notch accounting consulting services to small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Pedro had learned through his more than 8 years of experience that the most important part of doing business was the people, and that by putting people first, you were taking the first step towards success.
