Paloma Moreno-Acosta is a partner in the San Diego office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability Practice. Paloma previously worked as a plaintiff's attorney for a boutique firm specializing in wage and hour class actions, representative PAGA and FLSA actions, and wrongful termination actions. She has ample experience with complex and multi-party litigation, and is well-versed in California's many wage and hour requirements. Her previous experience as a plaintiff's attorney also allows her to level with other plaintiff's attorneys and obtain favorable settlements on behalf of her clients.Since starting at Lewis Brisbois, Paloma has expanded her practice to include warranty claims, products claims, and personal injury claims, in addition to class action and employment work. She also handles unlawful detainer actions through trial. In her short time with the firm, she has already accomplished several notable achievements. For example, Paloma successfully negotiated a dismissal with prejudice in a personal injury matter on the eve of trial. There, the plaintiff sought over $500,000 in damages following a car accident. The plaintiff walked away with nothing. Paloma also successfully obtained summary judgment in a premises liability matter for a commercial storage facility, wherein the plaintiff sought over $1,000,000 in damages. She also negotiated a voluntary dismissal with prejudice for a wrongful death toxic tort action after filing a dispositive motion on the issues. Paloma has also successfully obtained summary adjudication on several fraud matters in connection with warranty claims, disposing of any punitive damages claim prior to trial.Paloma also assists partner Ryan Nilsen in overseeing personal injury matters for a national armored car company. Paloma coordinates with Lewis Brisbois offices across the nation, and local counsel where appropriate, to ensure that the client receives consistent and effective representation. Finally, Paloma also handles the majority of California products cases for a global leader in infection prevention solutions and services, working closely with Richard Morgan in the Minnesota office.
