Nancy Burner founded Burner Prudenti Law (successor to Burner Law Group P.C.) in 1995, building a women-owned trust & estates and elder law practice. A Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), she has been included in Best Lawyers in America since 2014 and was honored as Best Lawyers 2025 "Lawyer of the Year" for Elder Law on Long Island (also in 2023 and 2020). Named a Super Lawyer in Elder Law for seventeen consecutive years and listed among New York's Top 50 Women Attorneys for five straight years, she also helped establish Mediation Solutions of NY. Nancy served five terms as a trustee of the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection, is a past president of the Suffolk County Women's Bar Association, and formerly co-chaired the Suffolk County Elder Law Committee. A 2022 inductee into Hofstra Law's inaugural Hall of Fame, she earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Stony Brook (1985) and a J.D., with distinction (top 2%), from Hofstra (1988). In 2011 she returned to Hofstra as an adjunct professor to launch its first Elder Law course and frequently speaks on estate planning, tax strategies, and benefits for the elderly and special needs populations.
