Scott Becker joined McCathern as a Partner in 2019, where is focuses his practice on Family Law, Civil Litigation, and Criminal Defense matters. Before joining the firm, Scott presided over the 219th State District Court in Collin County, Texas from 2010 through 2018. As a court of general jurisdiction, Scott presided over a broad variety of matters including multi-million dollar civil litigation, family law matters including divorces and child custody disputes, and felony criminal matters including murder. Two of the cases over which Scott presided have been the subject of television episodes: CBS's 48 Hours: Taken Away (aired September 2017) and Dateline NBC's: Someone Was Waiting (aired December 2016).Scott Becker is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Less than 1% of all lawyers in the State of Texas have this certification. In addition, he is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Scott was named by Super Lawyers to its Texas Super Lawyers list for 2022 and 2023.His broad background and expertise uniquely position Scott to assist clients in all three areas of Family, Civil, and Criminal matters. Afterwards he went on to Southern Methodist School of Law where he was a member of the Order of Barristers, a prestigious advocacy honor society. Currently, Scott is a member of the Curt B.
