What was the life experience that led me to make the choice on becoming a REALTOR(r)? Growing up, many described me as quiet, reserved, anti-social, even "the weird kid". I never would've imagined myself going into a career like real estate. A career where you are out into the world where you have no choice but to conquer common fears like disinterest and rejection. Overall, it's a career that's perceived only for those who aren't faint-hearted. My film degree satisfied my need to interact with people, but it wasn't my true calling. In the midst of my RN program, I realized that I truly enjoyed helping those in need, but like film, it wasn't the icing on my cake. Then suddenly one night, during the infamous unprecedented COVID disaster, I did my research on the market. Then boom. This was it. Could it be? Could it be real estate would be MY calling? Yes. Yes, it was. Not only did I find joy in the business world, but I found it in real estate itself. This investment is by far the biggest financial decision most people make in their lives. It also turns out to be the only investment where you have deep emotional connections to. This is the place where you get together with your loved ones. The place where your child outgrows his stages. The place where you make memories... the place you call HOME. Many would observe my situation only to become flabbergasted. "You spent years acquiring your film degree!" Or "The only career where you're truly able to really help and make a difference is in the medical field!" I've heard it all. The film wasn't something that was at all expected being raised in a family of medical professionals. Going into the medical field just to follow in my family's footsteps just didn't sit right with me. This was my life. Though many would think that the last years of my life were wasted; I beg to differ. I honed my past experiences and use the skills I learned than even now. I've mastered the use of digital cameras thanks to the film. I can click the shutter release on one hand while clicking "Publish listing" on the other. Staging a set is almost like staging a home. Making meaningful connections while educating those who seek my services is as fluid as water for me. Working with patients flourished a stage of patience that even the word patience would get goosebumps. Problem-solving and critical thinking went from skills to my sixth and seventh senses. These "years wasted" were the years that made me into who I am. I saw the options and made the choice and I'm never looking back.
