Born and raised in West Hartford, CT, my passion for elder care began as a young teenager volunteering at Brookview Health Care, which is now West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation in the late 1980s when my beloved Great Aunt, "Auntie Mae" became a resident at age 94. While visiting my Auntie Mae, I began to notice how many other residents always ate by themselves and rarely, if ever, had visitors. I began volunteering during dinners a few nights a week in the dining room just to sit and chat and hear about the amazing lives and stories these people had to share and it became the highlight of my days.Fast forwarding to my current career, I am the owner and solo practitioner of The Law Offices of Laura B. Platt, Esq., LLC which has evolved into a full service Probate Law firm. While I remain the only Attorney at the firm, I have developed a unique infrastructure designed to provide wrap around services for anyone dealing with issues with their loved ones. My firm includes a financial specialist who manages the budgets and household bill payments for clients, a Medicaid/Title XIX, Medicare, State and Federal benefit specialist, a client relations specialist and specialized administrative support staff.
