Karen King

Originally from the north, she was raised in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. She and her family spent summers at Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Normandy Beach, New Jersey. Later, she traveled west to attend the University of Washington in Seattle and graduated with a B.A. in Communications and Advertising. Having enjoyed a successful career in marketing, from working for a major magazine, to government contracts, to a sales career as a manufacturer's representative, she has had a varied life across these United States! All told...she has lived in Palo Alto, California, Enid, Oklahoma, Alamagordo, New Mexico, Tuscon, Arizona, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota! But having been told that since she moved to Asheville in 1985, she now qualifies as a "southerner"! Her husband, an Asheville attorney, have three children. She spent many years as a United States Pony Club volunteer mom and a Center Stage Performing Company dance mom. She is a long time member of ABWA (American Business Women's Association), having held Executive Board positions over the years. In 2010 and 2005, she was elected "Woman of the Year". This year she is the Membership Chair. Additionally, she currently serves as Co-President of the Chi Omega Alumnae chapter in WNC. As a member of First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, she and her husband serve on the Hospitality Committee. She is also a 10th Mountain Division Descendant in honor of her uncle, who was on the ski patrol and killed in Italy in WWII. With her knowledge of communities, available civic activities, schools and cultural events, she loves the experience of assisting buyers and sellers in making decisions about moving. She has a passion about helping newcomers to the area, since she feels so blessed to have called this area home for so many years.
