While living and working in the public schools during my first 30 years here in Junction City, my husband and I reared our two children who are now successfully pursuing their own careers. The Junction City Schools are recognized as an award winning institution. Also located here is the Cloud County Community College that allows residents to take advantage of the numerous course offerings to further their education. The Geary Community Hospital with its new surgery unit, just completed in 2009, accommodates the needs of patients in this area using the latest in medical technology by our outstanding surgeons. The newly renovated historical C.L. Hoover Opera House provides a perfect setting for theatrical productions. Many avenues exist for one to get involved in our community through various groups of which I belong: The Junction City Little Theater, The Junction City Arts Council, The Junction City Historical Society, in addition to the numerous churches and organizations that provide opportunities for volunteerism. For example, I am currently a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer, giving me an opportunity to continue working with children. During the last 10 years, following my retirement from the Geary County Schools #473, I have been helping customers with their real estate needs.
