I still remember the day my dad and grandpa took me to set up my first brokerage account. My grandpa taught my mom about investing. She then shared that knowledge with my dad, and together, they began investing in me. We started that day at the bank, getting the money from my savings account and then went to invest it. It's all thanks to my family that that money was in my savings account to begin with.Every month, my grandparents would go to the bank and deposit $10 each into accounts for my sister and me. When the monthly statements came in the mail, we took them over to Mimi and Papa's house, where they had a binder for each of us containing our previous statements. Papa added the new ones to the front of each binder, sat us on his lap, and taught us to read and understand the numbers. As we watched the accounts grow, we learned that saving, even a little at a time, can be so powerful with time. This made a profound impact on me, as anyone who ever gave me money for my birthday or Christmas knows, the thank you note to follow usually read, "Thank you for the very generous gift. I plan to put it in the bank."It wasn't until I got to Baylor University that I truly appreciated the blessings my family gave me by passing down this financial toolbelt and planning for my education long before I'd need the funds.It is now my joy to use the great foundation laid by my family, strengthened by the financial teachings I received at Baylor University and the extensive training and support here at Edward Jones, to serve my clients, treating them like family and providing financial education to be passed down throughout the generations of their families.I also find joy in cooking, baking, singing, hiking and spending time with friends and family out in God's beautiful creation.
