Joe Kelly was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He is an active member of the community and is knowledgeable of the issues that persist within the community. Mr. Kelly's journey of becoming a lawyer was motivated by his desire to be the voice and defender of the rights of others, especially those who are incapable of doing it themselves. Throughout his journey, Mr. Kelly has participated in many legal affairs that have prepared him and have provided him with experience of becoming a competent and qualified attorney. Mr. Kelly has worked with the Harris County Attorneys office where he worked on land acquisitions cases and reviewed contracts dealing with the purchase of property worth $18 million dollars. He has worked on a class action suit involving AT&T. He gained experience with a prestigious family law firm by working on a divorce and participating in the mediation of that divorce which had assets that totaled to $30 million dollars. In the criminal field, he has researched case law, prepared and assisted in cases ranging from aggravated assault to drug cases that dealt with cocaine over 100 kilos and marijuana over 300 pounds, as well as murder cases. As a law student, he actively participated in mock trial where he tried over 20 cases, participated on several teams in different cities around the United States including Houston, Dallas, Detroit, and Atlanta; he and his team won 4th place in the nation in a nation wide tournament and won first place in the 2013 Helen Dawn Williams Mock trial competition. He has also studied abroad where he traveled to Brazil and gained international mediation and dispute resolution skills.
