He attended Newberry Academy, Lincoln Park High School, then went on to graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign with a degree in psychology.After graduation, Joey lived and worked in Madrid for two years, traveled through Latin America, took a 12,000 mile solo motorcycle trip around the perimeter of the US, and studied under a famous blues piano master.
