After growing up on the Texas Gulf Coast, I studied journalism at The University of Texas at Austin. I fell in love with our city in its "Keep It Weird" heyday and have been amazed but not at all surprised by the extraordinary growth of the last 20+ years.After almost a decade as a music and lifestyle journalist, I moved to the nonprofit sector and served as communications coordinator for a nonprofit that supports at-risk kids and families. I like to stay busy, so I started a business making chocolates and other desserts in my free time. My part-time gig soon took over my life, and I was fortunate enough to run my own bakery and cafe in Southwest Austin for almost 10 years. I decided to join my wife, Janessa, in real estate after closing my shop because it felt like the perfect way for me to continue serving my community.
