Jean (Hockaday) Canterbury was born in Canon City, Colorado and graduated High School from St. Scholastica Academy for Girls in Canon City , then earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango Colorado. Her family, a Colorado pioneer family from the San Luis Valley, owned the old Meriam Homestead north of Macey Creek about 12 miles Southwest of the town of Westcliffe, Colorado, where they spent their summers. She moved to California after college and became a California Certified Nurserywoman with Advanced designation specializing in Insects, Diseases and Weeds. In 1992 she moved back to Colorado and began a career in real estate. She specializes in Colorado Mountain Properties, Homes, Ranches, Log Homes, Ranchettes (35-320 acres),Horse Properties and Sustainable Properties. Born in Nucla, Colorado raised on the 100,000+ acre "11-Mile Grazing Association" Ranch in Hartsel, Jack Canterbury graduated from Fairplay High School and attended Lamar Community College on a 4-H Livestock Judging Scholarship. He has worked for the Horton Feedlot Reasearch Center in Fort Collins, the Eagle Eye Ranch at Grandby, the Muddy Creek Ranch at Rye, the Southern Colorado Bison Co. Ranch at Rye, the 3X Ranch in Mack, Colorado and the Querno Verde Land Cattle Co. (Wolf Springs Ranch) in Gardner. Jack has been on the board of Directors for the Beckwith Ranch,was President of the Custer County Fair Board and Chairman of the Livestock Sale Committee for the County Fair. His ancestors came to Colorado in the 1870's and his Great Grandfather was the stock contractor and a frequent actor for the Tom Mix Movies filmed in Canon City around the turn of the century. Jack's specialties are Ranches, Cattle Properties, Properties with Water Rights, Hunting and Sustainable "Prepper" properties. Jack Jean started Wapiti Realty, Ltd DBA now as Bighorn Realty, in Westcliffe in January of 2001. They owned the Bar-O-Peso Cattle Company until 2007, when they sold their herd to devote more time to the Real Estate Business. Their main pastimes are their horses, traveling with their living quarters horse trailer to experience the great American Outdoors and hunting. They process all of their own game and beef.
