James Lockett is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Boston office and a member of the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Mr. Lockett focuses his practice on general civil litigation and assists clients in all phases of the litigation process. Mr. Lockett has experience with contract disputes, shareholder disputes, healthcare litigation and the federal False Claims Act (FCA). He has a strong commitment to service and robust pro bono practice, consistently completing over 50 hours of service annually and more than 100 hours during law school. He notably helped evacuate his former linguist's family from Afghanistan and continues to assist with their asylum applications as pro bono clients at Holland & Knight. Mr. Lockett also drafted an American Bar Association (ABA) resolution recommending changes to the current service discharge upgrade process by the U.S. Department of Defense, which was subsequently formally adopted by the ABA. He has also represented veterans in obtaining service discharge upgrades. During his time in law school, Mr. Lockett taught constitutional law to high school students in Boston as a Marshall-Brennan Fellow. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Lockett was a summer associate in the firm's Boston office. He is also a veteran who served more than seven years on active duty as an Infantry Officer and Captain in the U.S. Army. His combat deployments include more than 22 months in Kandahar and Bagram, Afghanistan, with the 4th Infantry Division. His military decorations include two Bronze Stars and the Meritorious Service Medal.
