I moved to the mountains in Burnsville when I was 21, straight out of college. Bought a farm and started raising kids, horses, and chickens. Bought a bigger farm a few years later and turned it into a commercial nursery, also raising more kids, horses, chickens and lots of native plants, perennials, and ornamentals..I started selling real estate 35 years ago because I needed income to support the farm, and real estate is a flexible career when you have a young family. Plus the special benefit of driving around on these beautiful country roads. I opened my own office in 1992, and have been very grateful to be a successful Realtor in the Yancey-Mitchell area of these stunning northern NC mountains.When the kids were grown and gone, I downsized and built a house with my husband John in the middle of 5 acres with a roaring trout stream through the middle. Lots of native species in these woods, no yard, and no mowing! Our lovely mountain town is growing, a new 4 lane is finished bringing the Asheville market to us! I am looking forward to many more prosperous years in the future!
