received his law degree from the University of Florida (J.D., with honors, 1978) where he served as senior executive editor of the Law Review and as a legal research and writing instructor. He is a native of Coral Gables, Florida.As a trial attorney, Mr. Borgognoni has handled a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters in the state and federal courts. He has been involved in jury and non-jury trials regarding a large variety of business-related disputes, including actions involving patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets; shareholder derivative actions; actions relating to the duties of officers, directors and shareholders; claims arising out of company failures and related problems; environmental claims; government contract bidding disputes; disputes regarding the enforcement of federal and state regulations of banks and other companies; and disputes involving local and state land-use regulations. He has counseled businesses in a wide range of industries, including solid waste companies, banks, retail chains, architectural and engineering firms, and companies that maintain large computer networks for government and industry. His clients have included many large public companies, and numerous smaller businesses and individuals.As an appellate attorney, Mr. Borgognoni has briefed and argued cases in both the state and federal appellate courts. In addition to his extensive experience in civil appeals, he has chaired the Appellate Court Rules Committee of the Florida Bar, and has served as vice-chair of appellate court committees for the American and Dade County Bar Associations.Mr. Borgognoni has long been an active member of the Florida Bar, Dade County, and American Bar Associations, having chaired numerous committees, and he presently serves on the Civil Procedure Rules Committee of the Florida Bar. He frequently lectures and writes on legal issues, and has been a guest on several radio and television programs. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Circuit Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.
