What did you do before Real Estate?I completed a local real estate school when I was 19. My whole adult life I've been surrounded by some of the best real estate influencers in the country. This has allowed me to always think big and open my eyes to why it's important to not only better myself every day, but also better everyone's lives around me. How long have you been an agent?Since I was 19. When I joined the Chattanooga Association of Realtors, I was the youngest of over 3,600 Realtors at that time. Why did you decide to get into real estate?When I was 15 my parents purchased a home in Ooltewah on 3 acres. It had a second home on the property that needed to be completely rehabbed. We basically tore it down and built it from the ground up. This led me to a greater interest in flipping and at 18 I purchase my first home to flip for profit. This wasn't done without the help of a great family and mentors that helped financially and continued to teach me what I know today about building and remodeling. About this time my parents decided to dive into getting their real estate licenses. It was a natural progression for myself to follow suit and today I am confident I made the right decision. Why did you want to work with The Edrington Team?I don't think my parents would have appreciated me if I started the "Doug Edrington Team" Hobbies?This is a hard one for meI eat, sleep, and breath real estate. Earlier in my career I loved to be outdoors. I grew up sleeping in a hammock more than my own bed. I love camping, hiking, climbing, and off road vehicles but, as I've grown, got married to my amazing wife Laura, and taken on responsibilities of an entire organization, I've had to adjustwith no regrets. I'm now living the best time of my life. My wife and I love to travel. We have been to so many amazing places and now it drives us to see as much of the world as we possibly can. With so many options, why should a prospective client choose The Edrington Team?While there are many real estate agents out there, there are very few wise options. If you are a buyer or a seller, before you call a sign asking for any real estate agent, do your homework! The internet has so much to offer. It takes just a few minutes to clearly see who the market leaders are. Look for proven results first, then interview each of the agents that appeal to you to find out who you can fit with. Look to see if the person you are going to do business with is somebody you can be yourself around. What do you bring to your clients you are most proud of?I've worked for an 18 year old buying their first home to a 98 year old selling their last, so not to leave their loved ones with the burden. The life lessons I've learned from my clients have allowed me to share stories to others. Bringing real life stories and examples to each of my client's attention allows me to help others make the best decision possible and become their trusted Realtor for life. Every one of my clients has my cell phone and they can feel comfortable to call and text me anytime. I'm most proud of the relationships I've build over my career. Some of my best friends started as my clients. If you could have a super power, what would it be?Time travelbut only into the future. If I could go into the future to se what's coming my way, imagine the possibilities I could have if I had more time to prepare. I'd also love to fly. That would be awesome! What was the last book you read?The Richest Man In Babylon. The CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services told me it changed his life. It has now changed mine. What is one piece of advice you would give somebody thinking of buying or selling their home?t's 100% ok to ask for helpbut don't ask your friends or family. Ask an expert. Don't let pride get in your way. I got to where I am today with a lot of help.
