I was told those words on a chicken farm, but I think that wisdom relates to our financial legacy as well. I was blessed to grow up in Cullman and be afforded plenty of opportunities to work. I played baseball for Cullman High School. It was actually after a baseball game that I had my first date with my now wife, Shannon. Sports proved to be helpful to my future and allowed me to have a junior college scholarship for baseball. I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Athens State College. I worked a few years with my degree but longed to have more meaningful work. Through research, I was given the opportunity to open Gardendale's first Edward Jones office. While in Gardendale, I served as the president of the Chamber of Commerce and the president elect of the Rotary Club. I was blessed to be able to serve in the Gardendale area, but in 2018, Shannon and I were granted the opportunity to serve our hometown of Cullman, Alabama. We have enjoyed showing our three kids our old stomping grounds.I serve on the leadership team for this local region and was awarded the Ted Jones Spirit of Caring Award for 2021. The award is designed to recognize those financial advisors who exemplify the firm's values, culture and spirit of giving back.
