Meet David Wheaton, a real estate agent with years of legal experience and a great, supportive attitude. David has been a successful real estate agent for eight years and is also a non-practicing attorney. He decided to become a realtor because he wanted a career in which he could make people happy. David believes that his past work as an attorney has made him a better realtor as it gave him an in-depth understanding of contracts and negotiations. This experience allows him to focus his energy on advising his clients, marketing homes and commercial properties, building relationships, and closing deals. "There's an enormous emotional component to being a real estate agent," David says. "You need compassion and a sense of understanding for the client's needs to help people navigate the process of buying or selling a home." He thinks of himself as a counselor for his clients, providing support as they navigate the buying or selling process and applying his knowledge of real estate to get his clients the best deal possible! David feels that his experience in the legal field has given him other advantages as well. Detail oriented in his terminology and calm under pressure, David can cut to the heart of complex and stressful situations. He credits his mother for fostering these abilities from a young age. "She was very warm and compassionate," David says. "But also, very precise and focused, with a great drive for business." She inspires David every day to do his best. David lives in Baltimore with his wife, Amanda, their two young sons, and two dogs. He loves being a father, playing basketball, and taking hikes.
