My career trajectory in real estate differs dramatically from most of my peers'. Perhaps my passion for my own home best illustrates why I'm enthusiastic about helping you be in your perfect home, too.Following my honorable discharge from the United States Marines in 1985, I embarked upon an exciting and challenging career in telecommunications management. Concurrently, I attended college part-time, and there I met my fun and creative wife, Jill. When we were ready to purchase our first home in 1990, to educate myself about the buying process, I took the real estate licensing class and exam. Subsequently we bought, re-zoned, and remodeled a 2-story former Schwinn bicycle shop in Des Plaines into a wonderful, Chicago-style loft. The first floor is our workshop and art studio. As homeowners, we were permitted to do much of our own construction, so we got a hands-on education in heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems. Over the years since, I've helped dozens of friends and clients with projects and repairs in their homes. As a result, I understand construction and mechanical systems thoroughly, and am able to use my knowledge and ability to identify problem areas to your advantage during the home selling and purchase process. In 2015 when our daughter was accepted into Northside College Prep, we purchased the oldest condo in the East Point Condominiums at 6101 N Sheridan rd. We embarked on a remodel of this 1968 Edgewater unit with green shag carpet and flocked wallpaper on all surfaces. We have again utilized our skills, knowledge, and resources to update the unit and enjoy our view of the lake and Chicago skyline everyday.
