D. Allen Zachary is a highly experienced appellate attorney with extensive experience in wrongful death and personal injury matters in a wide range of areas. After graduating cum laude from Tulane University, he moved to New York and worked as a litigation legal assistant at a prominent "Big Law" firm in Lower Manhattan, working on high-profile cases representing mostly Fortune 500 corporations. Mr. Zachary then attended Brooklyn Law School on academic scholarships, where he earned the CALI award for the top student in the area of Constitutional Law, before graduating in 2010.After law school, Mr. Zachary has the honor of serving as a law clerk in chambers where he helped to draft several important decisions for the late Justice Paul G. Feinman, first at New York State Supreme Court, New York County, and later at the Appellate Division, First Department. Justice Feinman was subsequently elevated to the highest court in the State of New York, the Court of Appeals. Mr. Zachary next transitioned to a role as a senior court attorney for the Appellate Division, First Department, where he drafted dozens of decisions that were adopted by the justices and therefore became law in a wide variety of cases, including numerous involving complex discovery matters, construction-related injuries and motor vehicle collisions.Mr. Zachary left the court system in late 2014 and took an appellate attorney position at a private firm. Each year Mr. Zachary was selected as a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers - an honor extended to only 2.5% of all attorneys in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Mr. Zachary also co-authored a chapter in the New York State Bar Association's Products Liability treatise.Mr. Zachary joined William Schwitzer and Associates, P.C. in May of 2019, where he has steadfastly continued his work to obtain justice for individuals and the families of those who have suffered injuries or even death because of another's negligence or recklessness. During his time with the firm, Mr. Zachary has successfully litigated numerous appeals, mostly in cases involving construction-related claims asserted under New York's Labor Law, thereby solidifying positive results obtained by William Schwitzer and Associates for their clients in the lower courts or after a trial, as well as successfully overturning unfavorable results in those instances where the lower courts failed to reach the proper outcome under the facts and law. In 2020, Mr. Zachary's achievements for our clients were once again recognized by his peers with his selection as a "Top 40 Under 40" by the National Trial Lawyers.
