In the early 1980s, Lee served as campaign manager for a number of Colorado political candidates. Among them was Apollo 13 astronaut, Jack Swigert, who went on to win election in Colorado's Sixth Congressional District. In 1983, Lee received a White House appointment in the Reagan Administration and served as one of two Deputy Directors in the Region VIII office of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Lee is an active community leader. In 2016, Governor Hickenlooper appointed him to a fourth term on the Board of Directors of the Denver Metropolitan Major League Baseball Stadium District. Lee formerly served as Vice Chairman of the Governor's Drug Control and System Improvement Board. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Regis University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
