Allison Krause is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Boston office and a member of the firm's Data Strategy, Security and Privacy Team. Ms. Krause focuses her practice on technology-related transactions, including counseling clients on the protection and exploitation of technologies and intellectual property (IP) rights, as well as operational issues relating to data security and privacy. Licensing and Transactions Ms. Krause represents emerging companies, large corporations, and venture capital and private equity firms and their portfolio companies with respect to various commercial transactions driven by the creation, use, license, sale or acquisition of intangible assets, technology assets and related IP rights. In addition, Ms. Krause has particular experience with drafting and negotiating IP, data and software license agreements, master services, software as a service (SaaS), terms of use/service agreements, supply, manufacturing and distribution agreements, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and reseller agreements, and strategic alliance and joint venture arrangements. Ms. Krause also structures, drafts and negotiates acquisitions and transfers of IP and information technology (IT) assets, as well as the IP and technology components of stock and asset purchase agreements, merger agreements, and private equity and venture capital investments. Privacy and Information Security Ms. Krause has extensive experience in assisting clients with regulatory compliance for data privacy, including in connection with U.S. federal and state laws as well as European Union (EU) directives and regulations. These include the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Children Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Ms. Krause regularly acts as outside privacy counsel to a number of brand-name clients, providing day-to-day privacy and cybersecurity advice. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Krause worked at a global law firm, as well as in-house at an artificial intelligence (AI) company. Prior to law school, Ms. Krause was a high school teacher in St. Louis as part of Teach for America.
