Preparing yourself on the day of your interview
So you’ve managed to land your first interview – congratulations! While this is an accomplishment in itself, now you need to show the hiring manager how valuable of an employee you can be. Here are some tips for preparing yourself on the day of your interview.
Eat a good breakfast
You heard the same advice in grade school, but eating a healthy breakfast the morning before an entry level job interview can make a huge difference in your performance. With the right nutrition, you’ll feel more confident and mentally aware than if you grabbed half a donut and a cup of coffee for the bus ride over.
Last-minute practice
Before you head out the door, give yourself at least an hour to go over the job description, company website and your own credentials to make sure the information is secure in your head. You should also practice responding to some basic interview questions with a family member or roommate so you feel confident in your answers.
Plan out a route
Nothing will ruin your chances of career success than showing up late. Research the route you’ll take to the interview and approximately how long the trip will take. Give yourself some extra breathing room for traffic delays and plan to show up at least half an hour early.
