While the future direction and ownership of Monster Worldwide remains uncertain – with speculation floating around about several potential buyers – the company has not simply been waiting around for something to happen. The job site recently announced that it will now be including a feature that allows users to connect with online friends and acquaintances for a more social dimension to its existing model, according to Ere.net.
This new friends feature is made possible by the integration of BeKnown, Monster’s previous foray into social networking. According to Reuters, BeKnown was launched nearly a year ago as a tool that allows employers to identify and connect with job seekers via Facebook. This latest advance provides users an option when using the Monster website to simply click and see which of their BeKnown friends may be employed by a particular organization or company.
By introducing social networking to its typical job board, Monster is hoping to address the disadvantage cold applying to positions on the internet poses for many potential candidates. By including a list professional contacts and friends, users will have an advantage in getting their name to the top of the resume pile.
